This volume collects a selection of papers presented at the Third International Colloquium on Plurilingualism, held from 8 to 12 November 2021 at the International Center on Plurilingualism of the University of Udine, within a series of biennial meetings intended to offer to the specialists in the sector a meeting point for free discussion and exchange of information and experiences. It represents an up-to-date reading on a very topical issue of our societies, mainly aimed to an academic audience, but also open to the wider set of people interested in the phenomenon on an international scale.
Fabiana Fusco teaches General Linguistics at the University of Udine, where she also directs the International Center on Plurilingualism and the Department of Languages and Literatures, Communication, Education and Society. She deals with sociolinguistics and plurilingualism with particular reference to linguistic minorities. She carries out training activities for plurilingual education at various Italian and foreign institutions.
Carla Marcato is Professor Emeritus of Italian Linguistics at the University of Udine, where she directed the International Center on Plurilingualism from 2004 to 2010 and the Master ‘Italian L2 and interculturality’ from 2004 to 2022. Her research focuses mainly on the Italian linguistic repertoire, plurilingualism, lexicon and etymology, jargon, anthroponymy and toponymy. She has published numerous essays and monographs.
Renato Oniga teaches Latin Language and Literature at the University of Udine and is editor-in-chief of the journal «Lingue antiche e moderne». His research focuses on philology, linguistics and education pertaining to the ancient and modern worlds.
