A cura di Nadia Carestiato e Andrea Guaran
This volume was spawned from the 12th European Seminar on the Geography of Water, ‘Water Resources, Management and Security in Southern Europe’ held in Udine in the summer of 2009. It is a didactic and scientific manual on some of the fundamental water issues, namely, management, security, conflict, etc.
The subject of water is divided into three sections, each of which looks at the issues from two different perspectives and geographical scales. The first section examines the management of water resources from a theoretical and conceptual point of view from a planet scale of reference. The second section takes a macro-regional geographic look at some Euro-Mediterranean cases. The third section, focuses on the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, analysing three case studies: the Marano lagoon and its fragile ecosystem, the problem of the Tagliamento riverbasin management and the complex morphology of the ‘Classical Karst’.
A CD-Rom, which completes the volume, contains the presentation of the history of the Erasmus Intensive Program on the Geography of water, the Udine edition program and the articles of seminar participants – teachers and researchers – in their respective fields on the geography of water research.
Nato dall’esperienza del 12th European Seminar on the Geography of Water, ‘Water Resources, Management and Security in Southern Europe’ (Udine 2009), il volume si presenta come un manuale didattico e di divulgazione scientifica su aspetti centrali legati all’acqua: gestione, sicurezza, conflitti ecc.
